Cost per lead is rising, but the problem comes after
Getting a lead in education costs more than two years ago: Google Ads cost per click in education rose 42% between 2024 and 2025 (LocaliQ/WordStream) and Meta's average price per ad keeps climbing. But what's getting most expensive is enrollment: across more than 800,000 higher-education leads, cost per enrolled student grew 23%, against 15% for cost per lead (Level Agency, 2026).
The difference lies in what happens after the form. According to UPCEA's 2025 secret-shopper study, 44% of information requests got no reply at all, and the median response time was over 3 hours.
